My Belated New Year’s Resolutions

So, I’m typically not the type of person that makes a list of annual New Year’s resolutions. Ever. I pretty much gave up on even trying to brainstorm about possible resolutions. Why? Because in the past when I’ve attempted to make a list of practical or personal things I wanted to change, I would never end up going through with them.

But I have this intuitive feeling that 2017 is going to be a great year of positive, permanent changes. Despite the hardships and obstacles that are bound to come along the way, because that’s just life, this year has already been off to a great start.

I never anticipated being a full-time Christian Lifestyle Blogger through this very platform, The Beauty Of Our Imperfection, along with being an ambassador for several of my favorite beauty, fashion, and travel brands. Most importantly though, this year, I’m truly embracing my identity as a daughter of Christ, a wife to my husband, and a mommy to my sweet little toddler, Job. I’m genuinely excited for all that God has in store for us this year.

Anyways, to get back to the point, (typical me going on tangents), I’ve decided to keep myself accountable by setting 4 “achievable” New Year’s resolutions for this current year in 2017. These are a mix of both practical and personal goals that I’m setting for myself, and it’ll be interesting to refer back to this blog post after the year is over, to see if I actually accomplished them!

Without further ado, here are my 4 (super late) New Year’s resolutions for 2017:

1. That I would spread the Gospel in more creative ways through my blog, sponsorships with brands, and my new YouTube channel.

The truth is, without Jesus, I wouldn’t be here doing what I’m doing. And that’s not even a slight exaggeration. When Jesus saved me here in Dallas at Watermark Community Church, I was in the worst state of my life. I was depressed and suicidal because I truly believed that I was worthless. Unredeemable. Unlovable. And unacceptable. Yet God, in all of His abundant mercy and grace, saved me when I was at my worst. And since that moment, the course of my life has changed forever. Because of that, it’s my number one priority in all that I do, to openly share my testimony and past struggles, so people can be reminded that there is always hope, especially in Christ.

2. More spontaneous dates and travels (or at least, as much as my toddler will allow!)

As you guys know, I recently traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico during the last month of 2016, and shared glimpses of my travels through one of my recent vlogs on YouTube. After that moment, I definitely think I caught the travel bug, particularly after I began practicing my limited Spanish with other Puerto Rican natives.

Thankfully, Cloud 9 Living came to the rescue and saved the day. If you’re not familiar with Cloud 9 Living, they provide some of the best memorable experiences for all types of people of various ages and life stages. They pride themselves in delivering exceptional customer service to every client who books a particular service through them.

If you’re someone that loves some good ol’ R&R like me, using Cloud 9 Living is the way to go. Whether it’s booking a top-notch facial, massage, manicure and pedicure, or a more adventurous outing like going on a dinner cruise, zip-lining, or having a meal with an executive chef, you won’t be disappointed as long as you book it through Cloud 9 Living.

Best part is, they’ve already done all the hard work that can be a pain to plan by yourself. Just head to their website! They’ve listed all sorts of awesome experiences organized by your nearest city and location. I had no idea some of these experiences even existed out there. So if you’re curious, be sure to click on the link above and check it out for yourself!

(Note: This portion of my post was sponsored and paid for by Cloud 9 Living. However, as I’ve mentioned before, this is 110% my honest opinion and I will never work with a brand I don’t like or endorse on a personal level.)

3. Successfully continue my weight-loss journey.

My toddler is now two, which means that it’s been over two years since I’ve gained nearly half my body weight and then some. For those of you who are familiar with my story, trying to lose 70 pounds on my own has been extremely difficult. That’s why this year, I decided to take the initiative in seeking the help of specialized fitness experts at LFT Personal Training.

I can’t even remember the amount of times I’ve tried to lose weight, failed, and attempted to start again these past two years. But with LFT rooting for me by my side and guiding me through customized workouts tailored to my every need, I’m feeling confident that 2017 is going to be a year of positive health and body changes. Since November, I’ve already lost 10 pounds which is a huge deal to me, because I’m finally approaching my weight-loss journey with a healthy mindset. As someone who has struggled on-and-off with an eating disorder in the past, that in itself already feels like a huge victory.

4. Raise my toddler well.

I know this sounds obvious, but for me this is one of the most important resolutions I can make for myself.

I don’t want to look back at my life as a parent with a heavy heart full of regrets. That’s not to say I won’t make mistakes, as I very well know that parenting is a learn-as-you-go type of process that doesn’t have some miracle “cookie-cutter” manual, as every child is different and every parenting style varies.

But as I stated in one of my recent posts, 3 Things I’ve Learned As A Young Mom, I want to ensure that I’m 110% present and supportive throughout my son’s life. That I would truly set the tone for him as a role model and example of God’s love, mercy, and grace- and to help guide him through life’s hardships and difficult seasons.

Though I’m a full-time blogger, blogging is not my life. It’s a secondary part of my life. Ultimately, my relationship with the Lord, and my role as a mother and a vessel within the body of Christ needs to come first. I’ve said this in one of my recent YouTube vlogs, but if I ever sense there’s disorder, I will take a break from social media for however long I need to, to focus on my most important priorities.

Here’s to knocking out these 4 belated resolutions this year. Can’t wait to see where God takes me.
